| A Hay-ManAfter crossing the Mississippi River we entered Illinois on July 16. Just West of Roseville we came across this hay-man on the side of the road. |
| The roads in Illinois had very little traffic on them and we continued biking on relatively flat terrain. The head winds were still blowing though. Cardboard cut-outs of people and all kinds of animals adorned many of the houses. We slept in a city park in Farmington, but we were kicked out in the middle of the night by a police officer. The officer did help us find a new place to sleep though. |

![]() Babak excited to be in Indiana | We ate lunch in Sheldon, IL just before the Indiana border and exchanged autographs with some kids hanging out at a park shelter. We spent our first night in Indiana in Idaville camped behind a church. | ![]() |
| Although the area was beginning to get more urban as we headed East, cows were still the featured scenery in Indiana. Just before leaving Indiana we stopped in the Monroe Post Office where we chatted with the postal worker and got some free granola bars. |
