Athletic background I've always done a bunch of sports.  I started biking on the last day of my 8th grade, when I remember biking 4 miles from San Vicente and 7th to Brentwood.  It took me 45 minutes and I thought I was going to die.  Hated running until I was in 9th grade, when I for some reason picked it up.  I swam very little as a kid, mostly b/c the Westside YMCA pool was so cold.  Really, that's why I stopped swimming when I took lessons there.

-Ran X-Country as a junior and senior in high school - nothing too stellar.  Including 1 disastrous final race of my senior year, where I led off the front and had one of the ugliest breakdowns on the one and only hill.
-Rowed crew at MIT, both starboard and port (whichever side I needed to row to stroke), for 2 seasons, stopping b/c I got tired of the program.

I've also done some cool things in the mountains
-Mt. Fuji - Summer of '98 - 3,776m
-Trekking in Nepal - Annapurna Circuit - April '99 - Throng La Pass - 5,418m
-Mt. Kilimanjaro - August '99 - 5,963m
-Solo hiked the John Muir Trail - 225 miles from Yosemite to Whitney Portal, incl. Mt. Whitney - September '00 - 4,400m

Biked 4,337 miles across the U.S. of A in the summer of 1994 - click here for the website

-Been doing triathlons since I was in high school.
1/2 Ironman after high school graduation (a 5:30 no less - not shabby for an 18-year old)
California Ironman 2001 (12:30).
Other notable races - Alcatraz 2000 (53 degree water), USTS San Clemente (the 62 degree water, only in a speedo, 45 minute swim, can you say mildly hypothermic?), Desert Princess Biathlon (including the "Dirt Road from Hell" - 3 miles in deep sand - and back when they were actually called "biathlons" not "duathlons", which I still think is a stupid name)...
